They have their unique characteristics. They are usually narrow and tall, have asymmetric design, large windows, patterned bricks, porches, terraces, etc.

Victorian homes is a classic design. This make the houses look old and dark. However, this design is a favorite design that many people still want to use until now. Some people try to modify the design to fit more into modern era. Below are bright modern interior design ideas for Victorian homes:

  • Use modern lighting

Victorian house interiors usually tend to be dark. The lamps used are also usually dim. To overcome this, use some modern lamps for room lighting. Place the lamps also in a place that is still a bit dark such as in the corner of the room.

  • Repaint the rooms with bright colors

You can still use old Victorian interior style and furniture. At one time, you can also make the room brighter by repaint the room. Choose bright colors such as white, yellow, or pastel colors. You can also paint the wooden floor, not only the walls.

  • Mix the era

One key for modern Victorian interior design is by mixing the era. Use several furniture from Victorian style together with modern furniture. Use furniture with same or similar color to make the room look comfortable. For example, you can use an antique table together with modern chairs.

If you think that white or bright colors are too plain, you can mix them with bold colors. You can paint the ceilings with navy blue. Or you can paint one side of the wall with bold colors and leaving the other sides with white.

If you think your house is too small and you still have space, do not afraid to add an extra room. Make your extra room different with your house. You can make it totally modern and different. This way, you can have two different impression in one house.

  • Exposed bricks

Exposed bricks is a brilliant idea to make your home look more modern. You don’t have to make all of the walls become exposed bricks. Just one small side is enough to give accent.
